How Briefs get ranked
Every file gets a score from the signals below. The weights are stored in the database and read here as they currently stand, so this page cannot drift from what the feed actually does.
What we use
In rough order of how much each one counts.
What we don't use
No likes, no comments, no follower counts, and no time spent on a page. Nothing beyond the trips you save and the places you Watch. Files you have already unlocked drop out of the feed.
Paid placement
Studio creators can have a file lifted on a page. A lifted file is labelled Sponsored, never appears in the first two positions, and can never take more than a quarter of a page. It is only eligible if its score was already in the top 60 percent of what you were going to see. Paid placement changes position. It does not change the score, and nothing else on this page can be bought.
New Briefs
A share of every page is held for files that are new or have barely been shown. Without it a feed only ever shows what it has already shown.
If you write Briefs
Three things move a file up, and all of them are work rather than spend: fill in every section including the receipt and the pins, get readers who went to confirm it on the ground, and update it when something changes.
