Pin types and labels

A short, specific label beats a long one. Twelve pins is usually the ceiling.

OfficePermit desks, registration points, police checkpoints. Add the opening days.
TransportWhere the shared taxi actually leaves from, not where the map says.
StayThe guesthouse, the hut, the spot you camped.
WarningThe ford, the section with no shoulder, the stretch with no water.
WaypointJunctions and turnings that are wrong on every other map.

Write labels the way you would tell a friend. Permit office, cash only, Tue and Thu is a good label. Point of interest is not.

A Brief's map holds up to twelve pins. If you are hitting that, the extra detail probably belongs in Getting There as prose.
